Other complaints are a little further from reality. In a recent symposium held by the Concerned Citizens for Steuben County, one speaker compared the sound of the spinning blades and whirring machinery (which most people find inaudible from fairly close distances) to the noises Nazi troops tortured Jews with during the holocaust. Group members also warned of health problems ranging from strokes caused by the sunlight as it pulsates through the spinning turbine blades to mange in cattle. Others claimed that women living near the wind farms are having as many as five menstrual cycles a month.
Words can't express how absolutely absurd these claims are. I want to rant about it, but I'm dumbfounded by the stupidity of these people.
I can see the part about the noise, though I don't think I've ever heard large enough of one to say. If it is loud, however, I can understand. The menstrual cycle part is completely rediculous and the stroke part as well.

I've been around plenty of windmills of varying design. I think the loudest I've heard is a very faint sound, similar to that of a slowed down helicopter rotor blade. On a windy day, you'd not even hear it!
