that's actually a good idea i think. I was thinking of something similar - a consultancy focused on service rather than the product. the goal would be to establish yourself as 'the computer guy' for any circle of of people so that they feel comfortable calling you with those kind of problems.

Not yet. I'm not worried about it, personally, because the people that run the shop are very reputable people.

As of today, "Dude" is no longer employed there. "Boss Lady" said that she's going to put me in the manager position right away after this weekend. Tomorrow is the last day in the current pay period, so that will work out nicely for everyone.
