• I have to admit, that, although I have only been using Mac OS X for a year now, OS X is possibly the best OS I have ever used. I still favor Linux over all other operating systems I have used, but from my experiences Apple has it all right.

Do I want to see apple as #1? not really. (That's for Linux :-P) Do I want to see them continue to be successful? Yup. It will be hard for them to break the 5% usermark because of all the FUD against them ("If it were used more, it would have more ___, just like windows" which is ridiculous)

This may be why they are trying to cut past the bullshit and try to appeal to the common person, but I think the commericals are more inflamitory to the average windows user than boastful of os x abilities.

  • but no, mac os would not be as much of a headache. apple engineered the OS around the specific parts out of the box, nearly eliminating software/hardware conflict issues.

where as with windows, its a giant heap of universal drivers that blow monkey ass, and the horrible task of constantly upgrade said drivers due to windows updates THAT HAVE THE VERY STRONG POTENTIAL TO BREAK EVERYTHING ON YOUR COMPUTER.

that doesnt happen with 1st party apple products, and because most of the addon hardware items are non-essential, if there are problems, they will be very easy to fix because your system is still working properly.

i base this on 13 years of mac use and half as many years of PC use. guess which system ive used less and had exponentially more problems with?

  • i absolutley despise those commercials.

  • I've got your spey-cee right here, buddy.

  • ill sohw j00 speye-cee!!!

  • Spiciness. :P

  • i prefer the tobasco brand chipotle hotsauce

its just really really really good.

  • I don't mind Frank's. My favorites are the 3/$1.00 bottles you can get from Dollar General as well as the "Louisiana Hot Sauce" (the one that says, "just one drop does it" on the front) you can get from Wal-Mart and the like. Neither are necessarily hot, but all have great flavor.

Seems that most of the Louisiana styles aren't really that hot. Chipotle is usually hotter but is nasty, and by the time you have some other stuff like Indian or Chinese ones your mouth had better be prepared for a full-on assault.

  • damn!

  • ha ha ha! you feel bad!

  • Exactly.

We had a perfect example of that today. A new customer came in and said right off the bat, "If you guys do a good job, I will be back with this vehicle in the future, and with other vehicles of mine."

When we were done, all she could say was, "Wow." weE dUn guod!

  • Not to mention that if your customers are happy, they'll refer other people to you.

  • why bother with slashdot?

  • Whoa Black Betty!

  • Top Gear rules.

  • And I would say the best prime rib I've had so far is at Lone Star. Not that I'm saying Lone Star is the best. I haven't had it that many times elsewhere yet. But theirs is good.

Lone Star does have the best barbecued ribs though, I think. Er, aside from Carson's Ribs.

  • Outing?

  • w00t.

Also, starting Monday, I'll actually be able to get a parking spot again.

Stupid students parking in faculty/staff parking lots.

  • well you'll have to let your mom know thats entirely unreasonable.

  • Well, this redneck town which has been overrun with immigrants, about 50%-75% illegals, was pretty quiet. I think they were all in Chicago joining in the marches and such.

  • St. Joe is out this weekend too. We've had a lot of college kids come throug the shop for oil changes before they go home. Almost all of them have their cars full of their dorm supplies (furniture, appliances, etc.).

  • i live in a city with a GIANT insert favorite expletive mexican population, and not a damn thing happened.

  • Sporks are for gays and lesbians.

  • I didnt realize anything was supposed to happen, and it didnt effect my life one bit.

  • Go see Silent Hill, I thought it was pretty damn good.

  • There is a lot about it on http://www.boingboing.net

It's a good blog if you dont already read it.

  • Well i didn't notice anything here in West Chester, PA....

There supposedly was a large turnout in Los Angeles.... half a million i heard?

It was also said that it pissed a lot of people off, so i don't think it helped their cause

  • did the mexicans actually go on strike?

i noticed nothing in my daily life, and houston is the second largest destination for mexican immigrants.

if that was what a day without a mexican was like, it didnt help their cause.

  • Simple solution: Mandate that every customer, regardless of race, present a valid driver's license.

  • You'd lose business. And how do you know which customers are legal immigrants and which customers aren't? You could be refusing service to someone who legally has a right to be here.
